Luxury vinyl flooring: upscale and budget-friendly

Like standard vinyl flooring, luxury vinyl is a waterproof material for any room of the home. Instead of sheets, luxury vinyl flooring is available in planks that imitate hardwood and tiles that mimic hardwood, stone, and ceramic. Many homeowners are attracted to this versatile flooring because it provides an upscale look for a budget-friendly price. Trotter Brothers Flooring brings a wide variety of luxury vinyl plank and tile flooring to the Piedmont Triad. You can visit our showroom in Greensboro, North Carolina, or we can bring samples to your home. Many of our customers appreciate the convenience of our shop at home service.

Plank

Luxury vinyl plank, or LVP, is available in many wood species like hickory, ash, maple, and oak. Some brands are textured, so boards both look and feel like solid hardwood. Vinyl plank flooring is designed to click and lock together so the floor can float over the subfloor. Therefore, planks can be installed on top of concrete and existing hard surface flooring. Planks can also be laid in moisture-prone spaces like bathrooms or mudrooms. Padding is installed over the subfloor to create a smooth surface for the planks. A vapor barrier is included if moisture is expected in the area. Padding also provides comfort underfoot, thermal insulation, and noise reduction.

Tile

Luxury vinyl tile, or LVT, is similar to LVP. Both multi-layer floor coverings, which come in various sizes, are made of the same materials. The backing layer protects the core layer while the surface wear layer protects the high tech design layer. The flooring usually has a stone plastic composite or a wood-plastic composite core. SPC and WPC flooring are waterproof. Wood-look tiles are available in many wood species, and stone look tiles are also popular. Travertine, slate, sandstone, granite, and marble are a few of the popular stones. Some LVT flooring is designed to float over the subfloor, while others are glued down.
